LINCOLN, Neb. And TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — WellCare of Nebraska, a WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG) organization, announced today it had donated $50,000 to help Live Well Omaha, a nearby coalition and its Healthy Homes inspections pilot. The donation will help with identifying houses which have tested superb for lead paint or asthma triggers impacting kids and families dwelling in Douglas County.
According to the Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance, a member of the Live Well Omaha coalition, lead is a full-size environmental fitness threat to youngsters in Douglas County. Approximately 678 kids in the county have blood lead stages exceeding the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) phase of the situation, and in 2015, 6 percent of Omaha-vicinity children had allergies. Of these kids, 31 percent had urgent or emergency care visits to treat allergies, and 35 percent of their parents ignored as a minimum at some point of labor to provide care.
To assist create more whole houses for youngsters and households in Douglas County, WellCare’s donation will help the coalition’s software of the Wyatt Tool; a Healthy Home evaluation device used to pick out dangerous triggers inside a property and refer the population to sources for abatement.
