A Baraboo plumbing apprentice is gearing up to symbolize Wisconsin in a national competition.
Terrytown Plumbing & Heating worker Cody Heath won first place Jan. 25 in a kingdom ability competition in West Bend. He will head to Long Beach, California later this month to compete inside the National Craft Championship.
“He’s just an extremely good youngster,” stated Andi Mueller, the vice chairman of Terrytown Plumbing & Heating, which has workplaces in Baraboo and Portage. “We have been lucky to find a young youngster who wanted to work difficult.”
Heath was hired in 2014 as a laborer and is attending faculty to become a journeyman plumber. Mueller said he had improved rapidly considering the fact that he is coming aboard.
The statewide competition is hosted with the aid of the ABC of Wisconsin Apprenticeship & Training Trust and showcases the abilities of top apprentices in carpentry, electric, plumbing, insulation, heating, air flow, and aircon.
The contestants take part in a -hour written exam and a four-hour fingers-on realistic examination, in step with the group’s website.
Heath said he participated inside the opposition final 12 months as nicely and determined to give it any other shot this year. He stated the exams are hard, and he credits his mentors with helping put together with him.
“The men at Terrytown taught me the whole lot I recognize,” Heath stated. “I need to do desirable, but we’ll see.”
