A Baraboo plumbing apprentice is gearing up to symbolize Wisconsin in a national competition. Terrytown Plumbing & Heating worker Cody Heath won first place on Jan. 25 in a kingdom ability competition in West Bend. Later this month, he will head to Long Beach, California, to compete in the National Craft Championship.
“He’s just an outstanding youngster,” stated Andi Mueller, the Terrytown Plumbing & Heating vice-chairman, which has workplaces in Baraboo and Portage. “We have been lucky to find a young youngster who wanted to work difficult.”
Heath was hired 2014 as a laborer and is attending faculty to become a journeyman plumber. Mueller said he had improved rapidly because he was coming aboard.
The statewide competition is hosted with the aid of the ABC of Wisconsin Apprenticeship & Training Trust. It showcases the abilities of top apprentices in carpentry, electric, plumbing, insulation, heating, airflow, and aircon.
The contestants take part in a -hour written exam and a four-hour fingers-on realistic examination, in step with the group’s website.
Heath said he participated nicely in the opposition’s final 12 months and was determined to give it any other shot this year. He stated the exams are hard, and he credits his mentors with helping put them together with him. “The men at Terrytown taught me the whole lot I recognize,” Heath stated. “I need to do desirable, but we’ll see.”
